Christmas in the Pit Village

Christmas cake, pudding and other festive treats adorn the table of a pit village home. The museum’s row of pit cottages come from a street in Hetton-le-Hole. This was Francis Street and in their original setting were back to back with with another colliery row in which lived a coal mining ancestor of Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge.
