Beneath the Lions Gate Bridge

The Lions Gate Bridge, which officially opened to the public in 1938, was originally built as a private toll bridge funded by the famous Guinness beer family. Officially named the First Narrows Bridge, it spans 1,823 metres across the Burrard Inlet. It connects downtown Vancouver (through Stanley Park) to the North Shore municipalities, including West Vancouver. Today, it is recognised as a National Historic Site of Canada and stands as an iconic symbol of the city's skyline.
