The Dominion (left) and Woodwards (right) Buildings in Downton Vancouver. The Dominion Building is a historic 13-storey, steel-framed high-rise located at 207 West Hastings Street. Completed in 1910 and designed by architect J.S. Helyer, it was Vancouver's first skyscraper and famously held the title of the tallest building in the British Empire for two years. The redevelopment of the historic Woodward's department store site features a 43-story concrete and red-accented residential tower topped with a distinctive rooftop forest garden.
